Writing letters to Santa

Writing letters to Santa is one of the reasons, why we love our childhood the most. We totally have known that he doesn’t exist because someone in school has told us about that. And we also have known, that all the presents are from our parents, because we have found the gifts hidden in the wardrobe our under the stairs. But having an aware of nonexistence of Santa Claus, we were writing letters to Santa. No one can explain this phenomenon, at the same time we believed in him and we did not. And that is a marvel of our childhood. We did not have general access to knowledge, as modern children have.

That’s why we could bring together the belief and the aware of nonexistence of the object of our belief. And it was great. We were writing to Santa, already knowing, that only our parents are going to read this, and in fact later we have found this entire letters and it was very funny to read them together. Writing a letter was a part of tradition, a ritual before the Christmas, without which the Christmas itself wasn’t so curious. And it’s rather sad, but modern children don’t have such a tradition. They are too clever to believe in fairytales, they are too smart to believe in an old man, who brings in one night presents for all children in the whole world. That’s why they don’t write letters, they only tell their parents, what do they want for Christmas and it is the end of modern marvel. I’m really proud and happy, that our generation believed in Santa Claus.
